Cold press capacity calculator

Size the press from the output you need — not the other way round. Enter your oil target or your seed volume, your expected yield range and your working pattern; the tool converts it into the capacity you actually have to buy, in kilograms of seed per hour, and matches it to the model range. No email wall: the result appears on this page.

What do you know?

Oil content × press efficiency, from your own test or your seed supplier. If you do not know it, send a sample — we measure it for you.

How the calculation works

Nothing is hidden — the same formulas run in the calculator and in the worked examples below.

Effective hours per day = hours per shift × shifts × (1 − downtime)
Seed per day (kg) = oil target per day ÷ net yield (yield entered as a low–high range)
Required capacity kg/h = (seed per day ÷ effective hours) × 1.15 design margin
Model suggestion = smallest model whose stated efficient rate covers the requirement

Every yield-derived output is a low–high range. A single "you will get X kg of oil" figure would be a promise nobody can keep across seed lots; a range is an honest estimate.

Worked examples

Hypothetical scenarios computed at build time with the formulas above — the yields are assumptions for illustration, not measurements. Replace them with your own figures in the calculator.

Frequently asked questions

Why does the result show a range instead of one number?

Because every figure that depends on oil yield is an estimate, not a promise. Yield changes with the seed variety, moisture and cleaning, so the calculator carries your low and high yield through the whole calculation and shows both ends. Single numbers appear only in machine specifications.

Where do I find my net oil yield?

Net yield is the oil you actually collect per kilogram of seed: oil content multiplied by press efficiency. The reliable sources are your own pressing test or your seed supplier’s data for that variety and season. If you have neither, send us a sample and we will press it and report the result for your material.

What is the design margin in the calculation?

The required capacity is multiplied by 1.15 before a model is suggested. Seed feeding is never perfectly even, and a press specified with zero headroom misses its daily target in real operation. The margin is shown in the formulas above so you can check the arithmetic.

Why does the calculator sometimes suggest a smaller machine with longer hours?

If the suggested press would run far below its efficient rate, buying it wastes capital. When estimated loading falls below 55 percent, the tool says so and suggests comparing a smaller model on longer daily hours. Mention this in your enquiry and we will price both options.

Does the result commit me to anything?

No. The calculator runs entirely in your browser; nothing is sent to us until you choose to request a quote. The output is a starting point for a conversation, and our engineers recheck every number before an offer is made.

My volume is far above the largest model. What now?

The tool will point you to the multi-press production line. Lines are configured per project from the same presses, so request a quote with your daily target and shift pattern and we will engineer the configuration.
